If you're staring at your roof and wondering how you're going to open them, don't worry. The first thing you need to remember is how high your ceilings are and where you will be placing your skylights.
If you have high ceilings, then even using a rod to open a manual skylight is not a realistic option. You will be much better off with a remote control. However, if your ceilings are not that high, using a rod may be the fastest way to open and close a skylight.
A high ceiling fitted with skylights is undoubtedly beautiful but can be difficult to open without a remote control. Luckily, all you need to air the room is a skylights opening pole and about 10 seconds out of your day.
First, you want to find the fastener and then push up gently with your pole. Next, you flip the lever to the opposite side to completely unlock your window. Finally, softly press the skylight fully open or to your desired amount.

To open a skylight manually, first make sure you can reach it safely! You can then use the opening mechanism to generate airflow through your home.
If you are opening a skylight, the handle will be located on the side of the window or at the bottom of the roof window, but other brands may be placed elsewhere.
Gently remove the handle from the safety latch and pull it straight up.
Apply a small amount of pressure to the straightened handle to open the sunroof.
After opening the sunroof to the width you prefer, you can secure the sunroof by inserting the handle into the convenient hole in the window.
Many have a long bar that can be swivelled forward to unlock the window. On older windows this may be a little stiff, but a vigorous pulling/twisting motion should be sufficient to unlock the mechanism and allow the roof window or skylight to swivel open.
